Where do we fit in?

22123943 - mother kisses the sick childRight now, as you read this, we believe you are staring into the new face of health care. Yet telehealth, as it’s known in most circles, is anything but new. In fact, the concept of using technology to quickly see patients and administer health care has been around for decades.

What has changed in the past few years is access to the technology, which is now widely available. It also has been accepted by the public. As part of a proactive health movement, many people are opting to monitor their own health. These days, chances are good that your grandma wears a Fitbit.

All of those factors suggest the time has come for WellVia.

At the same time, we’ll be the first to let you know that we are part of a bigger picture when it comes to protecting your health. Although we offer a wide variety of services, including discounted pharmaceuticals and on-the-road consultations, we’re not here to replace more traditional medical professionals.

Instead, our board-certified U.S.-based physicians are on the same team. Each type of medical expert can provide what you need at that moment in time. You’ll realize that when you meet our chief medical officer, Dr. Richard Boxer. He represented the U.S. at the World Health Organization in Geneva and twice became a finalist for our nation’s Surgeon General. Here are some important examples of the ways we work alongside more traditional medical professionals.

  • Call 911 if you are in an emergency situation where immediate critical care is required, such as when you have chest pains or are injured in a car accident. Seconds count!
  • Get in touch with your primary care physician if you are experiencing unusual bleeding, depression or any other number of chronic illnesses that call for further exploration. He or she can make an initial examination, refer you to specialists as needed and prescribe medications, such as anti-depressants, that fall outside our parameters.
  • If your condition requires advanced expertise, don’t hesitate to contact them. Oncologists, cardiologists, urologists–Dr. Boxer, for one–and others have made it their life journey to do one thing very well.

Where does WellVia fit into this picture? We’re here when the last thing you want to do is spend a few hours with a congested toddler in a crowded hospital emergency room. When you come down with a sore throat an hour before you’re going to step out on the stage before hundreds of screaming fans, we can be a virtual life-saver. Earaches, gout, Forty percent of the maladies, such as earaches and gout, that you might have taken to a care unit, and 70 percent of all physician visits, can be addressed in minutes from the comfort of your own home.

That feels like a good fit to us.
